How to Use BlackGold Border Soil

New borders & planting beds: Dig over the existing ground to a depth of 20–30 cm, remove weeds and large stones, then spread BlackGold Border Soil to a depth of 15–20 cm. Rake level and plant directly into the enriched soil.

Raised beds: Fill raised beds directly with BlackGold Border Soil, or mix 50/50 with your existing soil to improve drainage and fertility. Ideal for vegetables, herbs and flowers.

Topping up existing borders: Apply a 5–10 cm layer over existing beds and gently fork in to refresh tired, compacted or nutrient-depleted soil.

Planting trees, shrubs & hedges: Backfill planting holes with BlackGold Border Soil mixed with the excavated soil (50/50) to give new plants the best possible start.

Lawn preparation: Use as a base layer when laying turf — spread to a depth of 10–15 cm, level and firm before turfing for a lush, even lawn.
